Our Events
Festivals
Throughout the year we take part in several Glen-wide festivals which observe certain times of the seasons! In the spring we celebrate the blossoms with the Oak Glen Apple Blossom Festival, and in the fall the Apple Butter Festival is the perfect way to enjoy the harvest season!
For each festival, Los Rios hosts a pop-up market on the front lawn, with local vendors bringing their homemade wares and food for festival-goers to enjoy! Games, demonstrations, crafts, and live music can also be found at Los Rios during the festival weekends!
At Los Rios Rancho
At Wilshire’s Apple Shed
Wilshire’s celebrates the each festival weekend with crafts, sip-and-paint classes, and themed baked goods and drinks for customers to enjoy!
Admission is free, certain activities may have their own fee
Old West Weekend
Los Rios Rancho is home to Old West Weekend, a summer event that gives a nod to a bygone era and gives folk’s an educational view of life in the old west! Vendors, reenactors, and craftsmen come to join the festivities every year, and give demonstrations in poker, blacksmithing, fiddle playing, lasso tossing, and more!
This cowboy dinner with live bluegrass entertainment takes place the evening of the second day of Old West Weekend! The chuckwagon supper has been a tradition for decades, and folks come year after year for the unique experience!
The Chuckwagon Supper
Live music and talks take place throughout the day, carriage rides through the orchards are available, and each tent and area has something exciting and educational to show off! It’s a spectacular show!
Farm-to-Table Dinners
These summer evening dinners take place in the apple orchards at our homestead location. Guests enjoy cocktails and appetizers with a roaming live fiddler, and then they are whisked away via horse-drawn wagon to the feasting table. Here there are hard cider and local honey tasting stations next to our 1880s replica cabin. The farm proprietor gives an educational farm talk at the feasting table as a dinner made from locally sourced and grown ingredients is brought to guests. The evening ends with dessert and coffee around the fire as dusk begins to fall.
Whether a group of close friends and family, or a couple looking for a special date night, these elegant farm suppers are a unique and memorable experience!
Movies on the Green
On Saturday evenings in the summer, folks gather on the green lawn at Los Rios Rancho with their families, friends, and picnics to enjoy the old fashioned entertainment of movies in the park! Each week we pop fresh popcorn and keep our kitchen open late as movie-goers set up their picnic blankets and lawn chairs to watch the old Hollywood films. Before the show there is always live music, kid’s games, film trivia with prizes, and a short cartoon while the sun sets. From romances, to mysteries, to dramas, to westerns, Movies on the Green is good, clean family fun!
Currier & Ives Christmas
Dinner and Dance
Celebrate Christmas with the annual Los Rios Rancho Currier & Ive’s Dinner and Dance! Currier & Ive’s were print makers back in the 1800’s, and their works depicted a coming together and joining in merriment during the winter month’s and Christmas season! The evening event gives a nod to Charles Dickens with its Victorian theme, and guests are encouraged to dress up, and partake in a pot pie feast with live entertainment, and afterward are led through historic contra dancing by an experienced dance caller.
The event has been a tradition for couples, friends, and families who attend every year to kick off the Christmas season. and enjoy the festivities of the holidays!
